Fried Pickle Dip
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Quick and easy dip – This fried pickle dip is so fast and easy to make. It is a perfect last minute addition to any party. It takes less than 15 minutes to make!
- Fried pickle flavor – Fried pickles with ranch is one of my favorite bar snacks, but I didn’t want to go through the effort of making them at home. This pickle and ranch dip combo with the toasted panko tastes just like dipping a fried pickle into ranch.
- Game day favorite – This dip is perfect for your Super Bowl party or any game day. It is easy to double or triple the recipe depending on your group size. Serve it alongside some buffalo wings with chips or fresh veggies.
Serving Suggestions
Serve this dip with your favorite pretzels, potato chips, or vegetables like cucumber, celery or carrots.
If you are making this fried dill pickle dip for a party, I love to make other dips with it. Roasted garlic hummus, stuffed mushroom dip and classic crab dip are great options.
Buffalo chicken dip and spinach dip are great classics. For a less creamy option, buffalo snack mix is delicious and easy to throw together.
Ingredients
- Panko – the toasted panko breadcrumbs add crunch and bring the fried pickle flavor to this dip. It is like mixing the fried pickle breading right into the dip!
- Butter – you can use butter or oil to toast the panko. I like the flavor of butter and it really helps get that nice toasted golden brown color
- Chopped pickles – I use dill pickles for this recipe, but you can use whatever kind you prefer that are not too sweet. Finely dice your pickles to add them to the dip.
- Sour cream – the sour cream is the base for this dip. It help makes the dip tangy and creamy.
- Ranch seasoning – the ranch seasoning blend adds tons of flavor to the dip to make it taste like a fried pickle dipped in ranch.
- Pickle juice – the pickle juice helps to thin out the dip a bit and adds a little more tang to every bite. If you love the flavor of dill pickles you can add even more juice!
Ingredient Substitutions
If you want this recipe to be gluten free, make sure to get gluten free panko breadcrumbs. I like to use panko breadcrumbs made with rice flour when I need a dish to be gluten free.
To make the recipe even faster, you could even use dill pickle relish instead of chopping your own pickles. It will change the flavor and texture slightly, but it will still be delicious. Look for dill pickle relish for the best flavor.
In place of sour cream, you could use Greek yogurt. The Greek yogurt will add protein to the dip making it more satisfying. Cream cheese would also work, but it requires a bit more stirring and possibly extra pickle juice to make it easy to dip.
If you do not have a ranch seasoning packet, you can make your own blend with some salt, pepper, a couple of teaspoons garlic powder, teaspoon onion powder, and dried herbs like dill and basil.
If you would like, you can also add a squeeze of lemon juice on top of the dip. To add some spice you can use spicy dill pickles or stir a tablespoon of hot sauce into the base of the dip.
How to make
Step 1: Toast Panko and Combine ingredients
Melt butter in a large pan over medium-low heat. Add panko and toast until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes (Image 1).
Reserve some panko and chopped pickles for topping, and add the remaining panko, chopped pickles, sour cream, ranch seasoning, and pickle juice to a bowl (Image 2) and stir to combine (Image 3).
Step 2: Add Toppings and serve
If you are serving immediately, top with chopped pickles, toasted panko, and dill (Image 4).
If you are serving later in the day, store it in an airtight container in the fridge without the toppings. When you are ready to serve, transfer to a serving bowl and add the pickles and panko, and garnish with dill.
Storage
This fried pickle dip is best enjoyed as soon as it is served. If you do have leftovers, keep them in an airtight container in the fridge. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

So good!! I doubled the recipe and still came out great. Only thing I would do different is not double the amount of pickle juice. Started to come out too runny. Glad I started with less.
