DCV member lounge opens April 19

Disney Vacation Club members will soon have their own member's lounge in Tomorrowland. Announced last September, the "Disney Vacation Club Star View Station" is located in Tomorrowland, on the second floor of the Star Wars Launch Bay building. The Star View Station will be open during normal park hours, and of course valid Disneyland admission and a theme park reservation are required.

The lounge will offer seating, complimentary WiFi, charging stations and complimentary soft drinks and more to eligible Disney Vacation Club members. There will also be member services advisors on hand if the urge to add more points to your DVC portfolio should strike during your vacation.

Disney's announcement still did not answer the question of whether DVC members can bring guests to the lounge. The Florida lounge allows one member to bring up to five guests with them.

As a note, DVC members must have made their purchase directly from Disney to be eligible for Membership Magic benefits, including member lounges and events. Those who purchased their contracts on the resale market are not eligible.

The Star Wars Launch Bay remains closed at this time, and Disney has yet to hint at future plans for the giant building in what their own marketing calls "the heart of Tomorrowland at Disneyland park."

This new member benefit also comes as Disney prepares to sell the latest Disney Vacation Club property, the Villas at Disneyland Hotel. The property opens September 28, 2023, and Disney has already begun accepting cash reservations for those who want to be among the first to stay. The company has not yet begun selling ownership points for the property.

Disney Vacation Club already operates the Villas at Grand Californian, which at just 48 rooms is by far the smallest property in the DVC portfolio. The new Disneyland Hotel tower will have approximately 350 rooms.

New Disneyland guided tour celebrates Disney100

The Disneyland Resort debuts a new guided tour this Friday, April 7. Celebrating Disney100 at Disneyland Resort is themed to the global celebration commemorating the Walt Disney Company 100th anniversary. The new two-hour tour visits Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, and includes:

  • Walking through Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park with an official Disneyland tour guide.
  • Touring Buena Vista Street, Animation Academy, Main Street Opera House, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, and Sleeping Beauty Castle.

  • *A digital photo download of your snapshot in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, accessible through Disney PhotoPass service via the Disneyland app.
  • A Disney100 Celebration treat.
  • Reserved viewing for the "Magic Happens" Parade on the day of the tour.
  • A specially designed Disney100 commemorative pin.

The price is $110 per person. Though the tour visits both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, you do not need a park hopper ticket - just a one-park ticket and a valid park reservation for Disneyland are required. Guests younger than 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older during the entire experience.

The tour steps off several times per day, between 9:25 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., and includes reserved seating for the first parade of the day.

Farewell to Catal and Uva Bar

It's been nearly a year since Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock gave a State of the Resort presentation to Anaheim business and political leaders. In that speech, he outlined a major overhaul of Downtown Disney. We've already seen buildings at the west end of Downtown Disney demolished to make room for new construction, and Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen is undergoing a "phased renovation" to update the building and menu to become Jazz Kitchen, Coastal Grill & Patio.

Now comes word that Downtown Disney dining staples Catal Restaurant and Uva Bar will close on April 14. The two Patina Group eateries were among the original tenants when Downtown Disney opened in 2001.

Catal is slated to be replaced by a new restaurant called Paseo, while the Uva Bar will become Centrico, upscale Mexican eateries under the direction of Michelin-starred chef Carlos Gaytan. The chef is known for his appearance on the reality cooking show Top Chef, and was the first Mexican-born chef to earn a Michelin star.

Following the closure of La Brea Bakery in January, and the Catal and Uva Bar closure in April, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen and Naples Ristorante e Bar become the last remaining original Downtown Disney restaurants. Din Tai Fung (known for soup dumplings) and Porto's Bakery and Cafe are both slated to join the lineup, though Disney has not disclosed when any of the new restaurants will open.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it's best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

Current Discounts and Promotions

Disneyland prices as of October 11, 2022.

Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.

Don't get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.
